Classification
- Comprehensive Guides: These are guides where one or more personal visits were made to the location. These will ALWAYS include when the last visited date was at the top the the article.
- Research Guides: Research based guides. Clearly labeled. Incorporating details like third party information from people who have visited the venue.
- Reviews: Opinionated experience notes. Less "logistics" and more "experience" focused.
Methodology
- First hand experience emphasis: Numbers and facts are easy to find, so I focus on what an internet search can't give you as easily.
- Quality over quantity: Instead of posting more often for engagement, I strive to ensure that every guide posted is of the highest quality.
- Honest trade-offs: I will always disclose downsides instead of hiding them.
- Opinion vs fact: I will always ensure it is clear when a statement is the opinion or observation of the author rather than a hard fact.
- Independence - Self funded travel: Visits to a location are always on my own wallet. Hotels, tickets and admissions paid for with my own money. Venues and services have no say on what I write in my guides.
- Update Transparency: Every guide will show a Last Verified Visit date. If a major change invalidates something in the guide, we will also include a Last Reviewed date, and a note in the article.
- Maintenance Policy: Self-funded travel means re-visits aren't guaranteed. Instead we publish the last visited and last reviewed dates so you can be the judge on its freshness and relevance.
Ethics
- No Sponsored Guides: We won't accept sponsorship to write a guide, or any content that resembles one of our guides. For other content, we will disclose if we were paid to write about something.
- Disclosure Policy: If there are any potential conflict of interest, it will be disclosed.
- Editorial Control: We will not surrender editorial control to any third party.
- Generative AI Policy: Generative AI or LLMs will never write the final article. AI may be used for reviewing drafts, fact checking information or searching the internet for details. However, at the end of the day, the final article is written by a human.
- Photography: The goal of in-venue photos is to show the real condition of the site and never about showing the performances. We may use photographs taken discretely in venues to elaborate or demonstrate a point, but we will make every attempt to scrub and hide identifiable information like faces, event specific stage designs.
- Illegal Activity: We will not promote activities or actions that violate Japanese or International law.
- Affiliate Policy: If monetized links are used, it will be disclosed.
